At a renowned "conservative" convention, recently (on or around St. Patrick's Day), some attendees were actually defending slavery. Senator Rand Paul, if he is to be a true Republican leader, should immediately put as much distance as possible between himself and that ilk. Imagine these people feeling welcome in the Party of Lincoln since the party's genesis 160 years-or-so ago, which was basically founded to oppose slavery. Also, there were the weary subtle and not-so-subtle connotations about President Obama's alleged non-Americanism, which is ridiculous. President Obama, who is of mixed race -- and there are a multitude of mixed race people in America -- has Kenyan and Irish ancestry, and English as well, we believe. As a result of his race, Obama has been the most disrespected president in history, but many of his detractors have been so over the top and odious, that people who ordinarily wouldn't like Obama for his politics support the president to the hilt because of his zaniest and shrillest critics. This fact probably played a very significant part in helping Obama get re-elected.
Note: The Party of Commons supported the Anderson - Rodriguez ticket for president and vice-president in the 2012 election.
