Seeing that a good number of the members of Congress seem to think their job is to serve as Human Resources officers as opposed to senators and representatives of a Nation, we used to think that it would take a Senate filibuster to stop the "open borders" bill that's being initiated in the Senate, but now it may be up to the whims of
the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, John Boehner, to stop this
derailment of a Nation into the valley of internationalism as he will
probably have to decide on whether or not to impose the so-called Hastert
rule (no bill gets a vote without the majority of the majority party agreeing
with it) if this bill passes the Senate.
With any hope whatsoever to keep some semblance of nationhood in the 21st century, patriotic citizens may have to depend on this thin reed. If the Republican Party can keep the country together in our era, they will have, indeed, saved a Nation, again.
